What makes MDA preschool EXTRA special is our focus on social-emotional learning; helping our little ones become a family of compassionate learners. We believe home and school are the two most important and meaningful environments for early childhood students. This belief makes partnering with parents an essential part of providing a truly unique, student-centered learning experience.
Preschool is a magical time at MDA. Our curriculum draws on years of experience, innovation and research to provide developmentally appropriate, multisensory tools and strategies which are research based for our youngest students.
MDA provides a safe environment for children to explore, gain a sense of self, play with peers and build self-confidence while strengthening children’s social and emotional development. Children learn independence as they accomplish tasks and make decisions without the help of their parents through purposeful play. Play develops confidence and social skills. This is such an important aspect of development and is used in our classrooms everyday.
Our students thrive and explore during creative play which include dramatic and role playing. MDA’s gymboree program is designed for early childhood development while enhancing motor skills, balance and coordination. Children are challenged physically, socially and cognitively through play, aiming at building skills crucial to support a lifetime of learning. Our students use a hands-on approach that encourages students to learn by doing and by example. Using props helps students to learn about abstract concepts, develop critical thinking and solve problems. Teaching students about basic mathematics concepts such as addition and subtraction, for example, might involve the use of board games.
Learning is a serious business at MDA with instruction in English through immersion by certified dedicated bilingual staff. Learning is also fun at MDA thanks to our center-based play for PK2-PK3-PK4. Learning centers are areas where children have opportunities to work on academic skills by doing different hands-on activities that let them create, explore and discover new ideas that enrich their learning.
MDA Preschool Program strives to develop students into lifelong learners who are passionate about reading. Our Preschool facility is home to a Library designed to develop our students’ brains, spark their imagination and stimulate curiosity while helping their concentration, social skills and communication skills. Children are challenged physically, socially and cognitively through play, aiming at building skills crucial to support a lifetime of learning. Starting in PK4 and throughout Kindergarten students work on pre-reading and pre-writing skills, math, science and social studies.
(Jewish Values) Our youngest students learn to enjoy the beauty of our Jewish traditions while also understanding the importance of our mitzvot and Jewish values. We make special emphasis to understand our customs for every holiday and begin learning ways to be contributing members of their families and our community through midot tovot.
Preschool students learn Hebrew language in fun ways through songs and games, as well as learning the meaning behind our prayers in an age-appropriate manner. Jewish life is integrated in the curriculum as well as in every aspect of our students' day. Our preschoolers learn what it means to be part of an amazing, vibrant and warm community.
(STEAM) STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. STEAM activities encourage and challenge a preschooler’s natural sense of curiosity, helping children’s develop a strong foundation for future learning while at the same time, having fun in innovative ways.
Our team is dedicated to teaching the whole child to become life-long learners and to accomplish this we use a variety of tools. MDA preschool teachers receive the best quality training (professional development) from various sources including NAEYC (National Association of Education of Young Children).
As professionals of education, we are advocates for a conscious discipline program based on positive reinforcement. Kindergarten teachers play an integral role in early childhood development by fostering basic intellectual and social foundations. To accomplish this, Kindergarten teachers challenge students to express themselves while learning. Successfully teaching Kindergarten is about finding the right balance between fun and learning.
